RT @StephenWatt_: The large scale closure of Glasgow's libraries is an attack on the very social fabric of Glasgow. If Glasgow City Council can't afford to run them, it needs to demand funds from the Government. The days of managing decline need to end before there's nothing left to manage!

RT @StephenWatt_: Great to see Glasgow Labour standing up for Glasgow's Third Sector. It's also worth noting that this only happened because the SNP are a minority administration - if they'd been a majority the organisations would have closed and the services & jobs they provided lost.

The proposal from Glasgow's minority SNP administration to cut funding for @CitAdviceScot bureaus & law centres in the midst of a pandemic is as disgraceful as it is staggering. I'll be working with @Labour_GCC colleagues + @CllrRhodes to challenge this change.org/p/glasgow-city…

RT @PaulJSweeney: The defunding of Glasgow's law centres, and other vital charitable organisations that have been long established will have a catastrophic effect on the resilience of our city's communities as we recover from Covid. Hundreds of jobs & decades of expertise risk being lost forever.

Glasgow's original public library network was developed after a gift by Andrew Carnegie of Β£100,000 in 1901. The cheque sent to Glasgow Corporation was signed off: "Let Glasgow flourish, so say we all of us Scotsmen throughout the world." We still say so. They must be reopened.

RT @PaulJSweeney: Frustrating to see yet another of Glasgow's five Glasshouses fall into this state of disrepair, after the People's Palace last year. A symptom of ten years of disproportionate cuts to the city's budget by Edinburgh. Greater Glasgow needs proper devolution. glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/18653032.…
